Agenda 2030 – 17 sustainable development goals

In 2020, the municipal council of Trofaiach decided to sign a resolution on Agenda 2030. The city has thus committed itself to implementing the 17 sustainable development goals in all activities and projects. At the same time, a pilot project was started with the province of Styria to examine existing initiatives for potential with regard to the 17 SDGs. This includes numerous measures such as urban gardening, the creation of flower meadows to preserve the bees, measures to maintain a farm shop and market with regional products, district heating from industrial waste heat from Voest, promotion of ecological construction and heating systems, free filling stations for e-cars, an e-city bus, and LED street lighting throughout Trofaiach. 

Ideas for a sustainable Trofaiach are collected in workshops with employees of the municipality, as well as in a citizens’ meeting with interested citizens and other stakeholders. In the course of the project “Heit gscheid für morgen”, workshops with pupils from the middle school, elementary school and kindergarten on the 17 sustainability goals took place in cooperation with the Umweltbildungszentrum of Styria.
